Microsoft has been actively rolling out the Windows 11 22H2 update over the past few weeks, which is the first major upgrade to the operating system. So far, the new version doesn't appear to have any major issues, but some users have reported what seems to be a compatibility issue causing problems with Task Manager's GPU usage display.
Users have reported that when they have installed NVIDIA driver version 526.47 or earlier, Task Manager in Windows 11 22H2 cannot display correct GPU usage information. According to user reports, this issue causes Task Manager to show GPU usage reaching 100%, while power usage remains very low. NVIDIA has now officially responded, stating this is a known issue and a fix is in progress.
Additionally, a related bug also affects NVIDIA GPU 3D readings. As shown in the screenshot above, Task Manager's 3D readings for the GPU are not accurate and do not reflect actual or reported usage. It's worth noting that actual resource usage is not affected by Task Manager's incorrect display, so this is not a major issue.
NVIDIA spokesperson said the company plans to fix this Windows 11 100% GPU usage issue soon, and it's speculated that a fix will be released in the next GeForce driver beta version, followed by a stable release, with the update expected to arrive in November.
